Chambers and Henderson Post Top Throws

Lauren Chambers and Trey Henderson won throwing events to lead a small contingent from the USC track and field team which competed at the Cal-Nevada Championships hosted by UCLA in Westwood, Calif. on March 27-28.
Chambers won the women's hammer competition Saturday with a throw of 192-6 (58.68m), while Tamara Baumann took seventh with a throw of 172-6 (52.59m) and Marissa Minderler placed 11th with a throw of 166-5.
Minderler came back on Sunday to place second in the women's shot put with a huge PR of more than four feet with a throw of 48-6.75 (14.80m). That mark moves Minderler into ninth place on USC's all-time top 10 in the event. Minderler also threw in the women's discus and placed fifth with a throw of 135-2 (41.19m).
Henderson won the men's hammer competition on Saturday with a throw of 209-4 (63.80m). Eric Stein placed 13th in the men's hammer with a throw of 161-8 (49.29m).
Also throwing on Saturday were Devon Rennie in the women's javelin and she placed 10th with a toss of 121-0 (36.88m), Jacob Aronson in the men's javelin who took fourth with a throw of 183-8 (55.98m) and Ben Brown in the men's javelin who placed 10th with a PR of 169-9 (51.75m).
Brysun Stately also was in the women's pole vault Saturday, but missed on all three attempts at 13-1.5 (4.00m) after passing at the heights leading up to that.
Abe Markowitz set a PR in the men's shot put competition on Sunday, with a best mark of 53-11 (16.43m). His mark was good for seventh and Alex Adams placed 11th with a put of 50-9.5 (15.48m).
In the men's pole vault, Derek Scott took sixth with a clearance of 16-0.75 (4.90m) and Taylor Slingsby placed seventh with a best height of 15-7 (4.75m).
Leah Gaeta was the only Trojan running at the Cal-Nevada Championships and she placed 14th in the women's 1500m race with a time of 4:44.23.
