The Taylor Mays 40 controversy rages on a day after the safety ran an unofficial 4.24 before the NFL released an official time of 4.43.
Though the official time still makes him the fastest defensive back in this year's Combine, a .19-second difference between the official and unofficial times is still puzzling, especially when you consider the 4.24 wasn't a fluke. Though some reports are claiming otherwise, Mays' previous best official 40 was a 4.25 during last year's offseason testing at USC, the fastest time ever recorded in Pete Carroll's nine seasons with the Trojans.
