A stunning 391 USC alumni have been Olympians over the years, but only three of those have participated in the Winter Games, and none this year. American figure skater Randy Gardner (1976, 1980), American biathlete Lyle Barber Nelson (1976, 1980, 1984, 1988) and Puerto Rican bobsledder Mike Gonzales (1998, 2002) are the three Trojans who earned a combined eight spots in various Winter Olympics. None of them won medals.
Gonzales was a decathlete on the Trojan track team while in school, while Gardner and Nelson merely attended USC as students.
