The USC men's and women's swimming and diving teams kicked off the 2009-2010 season with the annual Cardinal & Gold intrasquad meet with the Gold securing a 298-258 exhibition win on Friday (Sept. 18) at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
Though times did not count in the exhibition, fourth-year coach Dave Salo was pleased with the beginning to what he expects to be a big season.
"It was great to begin the season with the enthusiasm we saw from both squads," Salo said. "There was a lot of friendly competition today - and we saw some very encouraging things from our underclassmen.
"We are pretty confident that we are going to have a great year this year, but more importantly the next several years look bright for USC Swimming and Diving."
