- In his first start, freshman Matt Barkley went 15-for-19 for 233 yards, a touchdown and no turnovers. On one third-quarter drive, he went 6-for-6 for 93 yards, finishing with a four-yard touchdown pass to tight end Rhett Ellison.
- The running backs -- four tailbacks and fullback D.J. Shoemate -- scored seven touchdowns.
- San Jose State went 1-of-16 on third-down conversions.
- Six receivers had at least two catches.
- Three rushers--tailbacks Joe McKnight, Marc Tyler and Allen Bradford--averaged more than 10 yards per carry. McKnight was the team's leading rusher with 145 yards in 14 carries.
- Linebacker Chris Galippo had a team-high nine tackles, including three for loss, and one forced fumble.
