After all the film sessions, workouts and practices since the Rose Bowl exactly eight months ago, the Trojans are about to take yet another step closer to game day by going back to what's made them who they are -- competition.
"All this time since spring, we've been going against us," Coach Carroll said during this afternoon's team meeting. "I don't want you to discount how powerful that is. The competition is so important."
So the Trojans are embarking on their first in-season Competition Tuesday practice of the season with a sense of gratitude for what's brought them this far and a sense of urgency for Saturday's season opener.
"What we need to do is compete today," Carroll said. "We need to battle and get our football right so we're ready for Saturday."
We'll return with a report following the full-pads workout.
