We've received several questions about the service teams and the schemes they'll play during today's mock game, so we'll answer them to the fullest here:
Are they in the team meetings at the hotel...or in separate meetings? Do they ride together in a different bus? Will they be in the away team's locker room, or in the Trojan's locker room?
Even though the service teams are the opponents for the first-unit offense and defense, they're still treated like the Trojans they are, so they are taking part in the pre-game meetings, are riding the same buses and will share the same locker room as the first-teamers. The mock game experience is also a rehearsal for the scout-team players, so they need to go through the typical routine as well.
Will they wear the black jerseys and white pants? If they score, should Traveler not run, and Conquest not be played?
The service teams will don black scout team jerseys to differentiate themselves from the top-unit offense and defense. And since they're still technically Trojans, "Conquest" and Traveler should definitely be in order for when the service teams score.
Will the service teams be running San Jose State's schemes?
Yes, nearly all of the service teams' plays will be what the Spartans use, just so the first-team offense and defense can further prepare for next Saturday's season opener.
