The prankmaster, finally, got pranked.
During the final team period in Tuesday's practice, players staged a fake fight that tricked Coach Carroll and his assistants into believing the scuffle was real. Following a short run play that ended with a pileup, several players stayed in the mass and pretended to push, shove and yell in a scene that looked like a legitimate extracurricular football fight. It caused the coaches -- and especially Carroll -- to start blowing their whistles while trying to frantically separate the players.
Once the players were pulled apart and the coaches caught on to the dupe, everyone had a good laugh, with players surrounding Carroll and chanting, "You got punk'd!"
"There will be retribution," a grinning Carroll said afterward.
