Nine out of 10 doctors would all agree -- the USC coaching staff is suffering from a case of camp voice.
Following two weeks of yelling and screaming during meetings and on the practice field, the coaches' voice boxes are feeling the pain. Voices have become hoarse, with the sounds emanating from their mouths sounding less like words and more like scratching sandpaper.
Hot tea has alleviated some of the speech issues and sore throats, but the true remedy will come Sunday, when the coaches have the day off and can transition from camp mode to in-season mode.
"Our voices will come back soon," said offensive line coach Pat Ruel, probably the coach most affected by camp voice. "Camp is training; the season is game-planning."
