USC is widely known as the most media-accessible college football program in the nation, but for this first week or so of camp, don't expect to read any quotes in the paper from the new Trojan players or watch a news clip of them being interviewed.
That's because the new freshmen and transfer players are kept off-limits to the media while they get accustomed to life as a Trojan player.
"The new guys have so many things flying at them early in camp," Coach Carroll said. "They're just trying to figure out where to go for the next drill, meeting or class. They don't need to have to deal with the media right away.
"Plus, it gives them a chance to observe how our veterans deal with the media. Once the young guys get settled in after a week or so, the media will get all the access they need. We've always done it that way and it's worked out great for everyone."
