Thoughts from Thursday's practice, through the eyes of USCRipsIt...
- In his first practice as the starter, Matt Barkley led a strong offensive output in the abbreviated practice that acted as the final full-speed tune-up prior to Saturday's mock game. "The offense was ripping it and the tempo was great," Coach Carroll said in the post-practice team huddle. "This day is about feeling really good about what we're going. It was a good-looking day."
- On one play during team period, tailback Allen Bradford thundered upfield after turning the corner around the right side of the line, igniting the offensive coaches. "No one can stop you with that speed and that power!" quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates exclaimed. "That's awesome, man!"
- Wideout Damian Williams turned a short receiver screen pass into a big gain for one of the highlight plays during team period.
- The workout, which was heavy on special teams review, featured extended work for the kickoff return, punt coverage and field goal block teams.
