But during Fall Camp, it has a different, yet just as important, function.
Called "the sanctuary," Varsity Lounge turns into a quiet refuge for the offensive linemen, who watch movies, eat meals and take naps in the air-conditioned room between meetings and practices. Filled with comfortable chairs, "the sanctuary" has become one of the most secretive and valued parts of camp life, as the O-linemen carry on with a years-long tradition every day.
But why don't they just head back to their dorms during breaks in the schedule? For one, that's an unnecessary roundtrip walk for sore and tired players, who can stay in a cool place to rest and relax, all while being close to the training room and the cafeteria. It's also a great place to build camaraderie, since the dorm rooms don't offer enough space to have a whole position group come together.

Offensive linemen watch "Tommy Boy" this afternoon in "the sanctuary," also known as Varsity Lounge in Heritage Hall.
