We received a question from RipsIt reader Rob Rae about the 24 40-yard dashes the Trojans completed during Monday's workout: "Are we talking full speed??? I would guess that the maximum number anyone could run in a 15-20 minute period would be four. After all, there needs to be some time for recovery! Does this workout take 3 hours?"
The Trojans didn't run them at full speed -- but pretty close to it. The skill position players have to run all 24 in less than 5.5 seconds, the quarterbacks, tight ends and linebackers have to run them all in under 6 seconds and the linemen have to finish each one in less than 6.5 seconds. And here's the crazy part -- they get only 20 seconds of rest between each sprint.
So all told, the excruciating workout is completed in less than 15 minutes, including a quick water break at the midpoint of the 24 sprints.
