Freshman diver Harrison Jones scored in his second individual event and just missed earning his second individual All-American honor on the second day of the 2009 Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday (March 27) at Texas A&M's Student Rec Center Natatorium in College Station, Texas.
Jones, who earned All-American honors on Thursday on 1-meter, finished ninth in prelims on 3-meter, one slot out of snaring a berth for the championship final. He ultimately finished 10th with 392.50 points.
USC also earned points with an 11th-place in the timed final of the 800y free relay as junior Zoltan Povazsay, freshman Patrick White, senior Vanni Mangoni and sophomore Luke Tanner finished in 6:23.92.
In other individual events, senior Kevin Bartell (53.50) and sophomore Dillon Connolly (53.51) finished 17th and 18th, respectively, in the 100y breast, just missing out on earning a second swim in the consolation final.
Mangoni was 23rd in the 400y IM (3:49.32) while Povazsay was 21st in the 200y free (1:35.03).
USC is 16th overall (34). The meet concludes Saturday.
