The USC Trojans defeated St. Mary's University, 60-49, on Wednesday night to advance to the title game of the inaugural Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Mike Gerrity again led the Trojans with 17 points. Gerrity has ignited the Trojans, and USC has not lost a game in which he has played. USC also welcomed Leonard Washington to the line-up, who competed in 21 minutes of play, scoring 10 points, grabbing six rebounds and also with two assists and two blocks. Washington was ineligible for the first ten games of the season due to academic issues.
The Trojans led by double figures most of the way, but had to fend off a late push by St. Mary's to seal the victory and advance to the title game against UNLV. The Running Rebels has won five consecutive games and have reached the finals by defeating Hawaii, 77-53 on Dec. 23. They are led in scoring by junior guard Tre'Von Willis (15.4 ppg) and sophomore guard Oscar Bellfield (10.7 ppg).
Tomorrow's game will air at 7 PM PST on ESPN2.
