The USC Trojans defeated the University of Arizona 56-50, in their Pac-10 opener tonight at the Galen Center. This win stretches the Trojan winning streak to seven, giving USC their ninth win of the year.
Marcus Johnson and Dwight Lewis led the Trojans in scoring, each with 14 points. This game was won on the defensive end for USC, as the Trojans held the Wildcats to just 37 percent shooting from the field in the first half. USC led by as much as 17 in the first twenty minutes of play. Tonight's game was the seventh game in a row, in which the Trojans held their opponent to under 56 points scoring. This win gives Head Coach Kevin O'Neill his second win this season against one of his former teams. O' Neill coached both Tennessee and Arizona, before finding his way to USC. The Trojans will host Arizona St. Saturday at 7:30.
