Jones, Ishimatsu Kick Off Trojan Diving Invite

USC sophomores Harrison Jones and Victoria Ishimatsu won both springboard and platform events during the first two sessions of the 2009 Trojan Diving Invitational on Friday (Nov. 6) at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium.
In the earlier session, Ishimatsu, a 2009 All-American, earned first in the 3-meter springboard with a score of 344.00, nicely ahead of second-place Hannah Bosksnick of Hawaii (322.65). USC sophomore Michela Fossati-Bellani was 11th (226.65).
Jones, a two-time All-American last year, finished first on 1-meter with 370.00, edging Stanford's Dwight Dumais (360.00). Dumais was first in prelims with 351.60 while Jones had 340.00. Trojan juniors Steven Starks (297.90) and Greg Miller (262.00) finished fourth and fifth, respectively while sophomore Robbie Taylor was 12th.
On men's platform, Jones won again with 350.00 points, edging Stanford's Brent Eichenseer (341.75). Starks was third (309.70) while Miller was eighth (231.65).
On women's platform, Ishimatsu won with 236.25, posting an even narrower margin of victory than on the men's side. UCLA' Karina Silva was second with 229.50 while Hawaii's Stephanie DeLima was third (224.90).
On Saturday, the men's 3-meter and women's 1-meter prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals starting at 11:15 a.m.
