The Trojans advance to 2-1 on the season after beating the Coppin St. Eagles, 74-43, at the Galen Center Friday night.
Sophomore forward, Nikola Vucevic led the way for the Trojans with 19 points and 11 rebounds. More importantly, both Marcus Johnson and Alex Stepheson made their season debuts for USC. Johnson finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 22 minutes of action, while Stepheson had 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block in 21 minutes of game play.
The two, both local products, Johnson having prepped at nearby Westchester High School and Stepheson at Harvard-Westlake, brought a much needed spark to the Trojans after the team dropped their last contest, 67-59, to LMU. The Trojans will have a light shoot around tomorrow at noon, before hosting Nebraska at 1:30 on Sunday.
