As the Trojans examine the truths from Saturday's win, one positive and one negative are worth highlighting above the rest.
For one, the offensive line played a spectacular game, even if the rushing stats didn't show it. No sacks were allowed and on USC's two goal-line plays, the Trojans scored both times.
On the flip side, the penalty plague reared its ugly head again. USC was stricken with 12 penalties for 107 yards in the game, with 10 different players drawing a flag. On each of the Trojans' nine non-scoring drives, at least one penalty was called, which stalled the offensive momentum and helped lead to eight punts.
"We weren't as precise as we should be," Coach Carroll said in this afternoon's team meeting. "Something was screwed up."
