RipsIt Jerome Jones sent in an e-mail wondering who was playing tailback on the scout-team offense this week in anticipation of Stanford's bullish rushing attack.
Freshman fullback Simione Vehikite, a 6-0, 245-pound bruiser from Hawaii, has been mimicking Toby Gerhart, Stanford's 6-1, 235-pound tailback, during practices this week. And he's been doing it to the resounding praises of the coaching staff, so much so that he's going to be honored with service team captain duties for Saturday's game.
"Simi has had a tremendous week preparing our defense," Coach Carroll said. "His attitude and performance have done so much to get the defense ready for the type of running we'll see on game day."
