Ryan Davidson, the teen from Wisconsin who captured the Trojans' hearts over the last several years before passing away in February, has been recognized as the No. 1 fundraiser among the American Cancer Society's 135,000-participant Midwest region in 2009. The $52,624 he raised during the past year also put him No. 3 among the more than 2 million participants in the entire U.S.
"Everyone at the American Cancer Society is shocked and thrilled at what a 16-year-old accomplished," Kirby Davison, Ryan's father, said. "His $52,624 should go a long ways in reaching his goal of finding a cure so that no other child has to go through this."
