It's been an uplifting meeting for the USC special teams, a phase that Coach Carroll said "was absolutely flying on Saturday."
Other than a missed 51-yard field goal and a so-so kickoff return effort, the Trojan special teams had an outstanding performance in Saturday's 28-7 win.
"It's been so good to watch the film because you guys did stuff right," special teams coordinator Brian Schneider said.
Schneider highlighted several players who made an impact on the special teams in the game, including punter Jake Harfman (averaged 45.4 yards on eight punts), linebacker Ross Cumming (played glowingly on four special teams units), returners Joe McKnight and Damian Williams (combined to average nearly 15 yards on five punt returns), safety Ryan McMahon (downed a punt inside the 1-yard line) and safety Jawanza Starling (played significant roles on several units).
