The bye week means fewer hours of work for the coaches and players, but not so for two key components of the Trojan football machine.
For the video operations department, life goes on pretty much as normal. Since director Eric Espinoza and his staff always work a week ahead, they've already done the Notre Dame film preparations for the coaches and players. The only benefit of a bye week is that the video staffers don't have to get their equipment ready to travel to either the home hotel or for a road trip.
It's much of the same story in the equipment operations department. Practices, workouts and associated laundry needs march on even during the bye week, and the equipment staffers are already packing the travel trunks of gear for next week's Notre Dame game. The team will depart on Thursday, so the time crunch is being felt as the equipment guys are deep into preparations for the pending road trip halfway across the country.
