Thursdays are fascinating days in the USC football office.
On one hand, kickoff is just 48 hours away, so game mode and its accompanying excitement are in high gear. But on the other hand, there's a calmness that settles in, since the game plan is installed and the two hardest days of practice (Tuesday and Wednesday) are in the books.
Today, coaches are putting the finishing touches on the game plans, as Saturday's matchup comes into clearer focus. Thursday signals the beginning of the end of game week, so the frantic early-week preparation transitions into a pensive, tranquil and serious demeanor for the coaches from here on through kickoff on Saturday night.
