RipsIt reader Brandon Buehler e-mailed in asking why Coach Carroll wears khaki pants at practice instead of gym shorts or other traditional coaches' practice gear.
For one, Carroll said he likes being warm during practice so he can sweat -- "that way it feels like I'm working out."
Also, and the bigger reason for his attire choice, Carroll calls the khaki pants "utility trousers." He can wear them to meetings, on the practice field and around campus, since they serve multiple purposes all in one pair of pants.
