At the start of this afternoon's special teams meeting, coordinator Brian Schneider asked the 11-man punt return unit to stand up.
Then he posed a simple question for the entire team to answer.
"How much did we win by?" Schneider asked to break the silence.
The six-point margin of victory was one fewer point than the Trojans scored on Damian Williams' 63-yard punt return in the third quarter, giving Schneider an ideal example of why special teams are so vital to the overall team's success.
"You never know what can change the game," Schneider told the players. "It's a whole different game if that return doesn't happen."
Schneider then commended the 11 punt-return players still standing and told them to sit down. The special teams meeting carried on for the Trojans, with a renewed seriousness and a heightened sense of the importance of their duties.
