EUGENE, Ore. -- RipsIt reader John Pings e-mailed in asking about the results of Friday's "fatman football" game at Autzen Stadium. For the fourth time in five games (the matchup is only played at walk-thrus before road contests), the defensive line won, this time on an overtime extra-point kick by nose tackle Averell Spicer.
The "fatman football" game pits the offensive and defensive linemen against each other in a two-hand touch gridiron battle where no running is allowed (only walking) and the teams have four downs to get from one sideline to the other, between the goal line and the 20-yard line. As you can imagine, it's often a very hilarious sight seeing 300-pounders make deep passes, catch balls and rumble downfield.
