Made by former drum major Jason Ito earlier this decade, the wool cloak features a coyote pelt and is brought out for "Tommy Trojan" whenever the weather gets chilly, like it was in South Bend over the weekend. Morris wore the coat for much of the second half (after the sun went down), but because it restricts his movement, he shed it for the waning moments of the fourth quarter.
"I think that body language and movement are extremely important in motivating and pumping up the troops, so for the final part of the fourth quarter I threw off the cloak and starting running up and down the band," Morris said.
