Thoughts from Thursday's practice, through the eyes of USCRipsIt...
- USC hustled through a snappy half-pads practice to close out the physical portion of game week preparation, producing great results in the process. "We've had a very good week of practice," Coach Carroll said. "We needed it -- we had a lot of things to clean and fix up. I'm hoping this carries over."
- Linebacker Shane Horton is on track to start at the weakside spot, though Malcolm Smith and Luthur Brown will be available to play.
- Defensive end Nick Perry will play on Saturday, even though he remains "gimpy," according to Carroll.
- Aaron Corp has remained in the backup quarterback position, Carroll said.
- Wideout Ronald Johnson ran routes for the first time since his collarbone injury as he continued to rehab with hopes of returning for the Notre Dame game in two weeks.
- In the post-practice huddle, Coach Carroll lauded the service teams for their work: "We own so much to them. It is important we realize how much they do for us."
