- A typically brief practice closed out the week's heavy-duty work, with the Trojans just two brief Friday walk-thrus away from kickoff on Saturday. "This was a great way to end the week," Coach Carroll said after the team's half-pads practice on a sun-soaked Cromwell Field.
- On a kickoff return near the end of practice, tailback C.J. Gable went down but eventually walked off the field with the help of trainers. Carroll called it a bruised knee and said "we'll see" what Gable's availability will be for Saturday's game. "He's going to be really, really sore," Carroll said.
- Malcolm Smith will start at weakside linebacker, Carroll said.
- Ronald Johnson (collarbone), Nick Perry (knee bruise) and Armond Armstead (broken foot) are set to play Saturday, Carroll said.
