Like they did prior to the Ohio State game -- and every road game, in fact -- the Trojans practiced Wednesday with high-powered speakers surrounding the field, spewing out artificial crowd noise at 130 decibels, roughly the same level as a jet engine and referred to as the "threshold of pain."
It was perfect practice for Saturday night's game at Autzen Stadium, where the noise record for a college football game was set the last time the Trojans played at Oregon. In October 2007, a decibel reading of 127.2 was recorded, and that's been widely accepted as the highest volume mark for a college football game.
