The No. 4 Women of Troy Look for Success at the San Diego Crew Classic

The Women of Troy will enter the 35th annual San Diego Crew Classic, the greatest regatta on the West Coast, ranked No. 4 for the third week in a row in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USC Rowing varsity eights ranking. USC is coming off a successful scrimmage against Loyola Marymount University, where the Women of Troy swept all their races.
The No. 4 Women of Troy will compete this weekend, April 5-6, in the prestigious, two-day, San Diego Crew Classic in Mission Bay in San Diego, Calif.
The Women of Troy are going to send four boats to the Classic. The Women's Varsity Eight will race at 8:50 am in the Jessop-Whittier Cup preliminary heat A against No. 17 Washington, No. 15 Washington State, No. 16 Clemson
The JV Eight will take to the water at 10:10 am in the preliminary heat A for the Jackie Ann Sitt Hungness trophy against Washington State, Clemson, Louisville, Sacramento State, Kansas State and the University of San Diego.
The Women of Troy will also be racing in the open club category, with a crew consisting of some varsity and some novice rowers at 1:20 pm in preliminary heat A for the Carley Copley Cup. Their competition will be UC Irvine, Bair Island, UC Santa Barbara Alumni and UC San Diego.
USC novice crew will be racing at 10:50 am in the Laurel V. Korholz Perpetual Trophy preliminary heat A against Stanford, Arizona State, UC San Diego, Orange Coast College and UC Irvine.
The top three finishers in each heat of the Jessop-Whitter Cup and Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy preliminaries will advance to the grand final for their respective event. Fourth through sixth place in each preliminary heat will compete in the petite final. In the women's novice and open division, only the top two finishers in each preliminary heat will advance to the grand final. The petite final will then be comprised of the third and fourth place finishers from each heat. A complete schedule of the races can be found at www.crewclassic.org
