USC men and women won 10 individual events and 7 relays in the non-scoring meet that featured various junior college and club teams.
Zsofia Erdelyi set a USC freshmen record while winning the women's 3000-meter run in 9:37.90, breaking Shannon Clark's 1987 mark of 9:41.44.
Other Trojan individual winners were Corey White (220-10) and Kristine Busa (164-01) in the men's and women's javelin throws, Derek Scott (16-0 ¾) and Chun Mei Nickles (10-8) in the men's and women's pole vaults, and Lauren Guerrieri in the women's discus throw (156-7).
Besides the women's 400- (44.76) and 1600-meter (3:42.10) relays, USC's other winning quartets were the men's distance medley (10:14.96), men's 1600-meter sprint medley (3:28.43), men's 3200-meter relay (7:56.18), women's 800-meter relay (1:35.61) and men's 1600-meter relay (3:09.75).
The debut of USC freshman sprinter Bryshon Nellum, the national high school track and field athlete of the year in 2007, was cut short in his first race as a Trojan. Leading while running the third leg of the 400-meter relay, he pulled up with a hamstring strain and could be sidelined several weeks.
USC next competes at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton, Calif., on Saturday (March 8). The Trojans' only other home meet in 2008 will be the Trojan Invitational on March 22.
