USC Captures Lexus Gauntlet Trophy!

For the third time in five years, USC has won the Lexus Gauntlet trophy in the head-to-head all-sports challenge with cross-town rival UCLA. The Trojans clinched the 2005-06 version of the trophy following today's (April 29) win over the Bruins in women's rowing.
Although USC and UCLA have additional scheduled meetings remaining this season (in baseball and women's water polo), the Trojans now hold a 62.5-42.5 lead over the Bruins. That ensures the return of the 150-pound, pewter-gilded Lexus Gauntlet trophy back to Troy.
In the five years of the Gauntlet competition, the schools have alternated winning the trophy. USC won the inaugural trophy in 2002, then again in 2004 and now in 2006. UCLA captured the rivalry's crown jewel in 2003 and 2005.
