Junior Kristen Berglas finished 21st to lead three USC cross country runners today at the Triton XC Classic in San Diego, Calif. The Trojans only entered three runners in the event hosted by UC San Diego, so they were not eligible in the team competition.
Berglas had a time of 23:34 in the 6K event, the Trojans first 6K of the season.
Christina Eads was a close second for the Trojans, posting a time of 24:17 to finish 35th. It was a nice homecoming for the Fallbrook, Calif. native, as it was her career-best 6K time. The junior's previous personal best was 24:24.
Also competing for the Trojans was sophomore Sara Fusco, who ran the course in a time of 27:44 to place 135th.
The Women of Troy's next meet will be on Oct. 21 at the Cal State Fullerton Invitational, the team's final competition before the Pac-10 Championships on Oct. 29 at Tucson, Ariz.
