OJAI, Calif. -- 21st-ranked K.J. Hippensteel of Stanford fell to USC's 77th-ranked Ryan Moore in two sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the men's singles final of the 2001 Pac-10 Tournament held on Sunday in Ojai, Calif.
Moore has now won his last nine-consecutive matches, including a 6-4, 6-1 win over Hippensteel to conclude the regular season. The match marked the pairs' third meeting of the year with Moore claiming the final two.
Moore also upset Stanford's No. 1-ranked Alex Kim in the quarterfinals en route to his first-ever conference title and USC's first since 1996.
Kim and Hippensteel earned the Pac-10 men's doubles championship with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Olivier Charroin and Pim Van Mele of Arizona State.
