Men's Golf Finishes Third At ASU Thunderbird Invitational

Junior Craig Stadler shot rounds of 68 and 67 to tie for sixth indivudually and lead the No. 9 USC men's golf team to a third place showing at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational held at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz., this past weekend (April 13-14).
The Trojans entered the final round tied for second with Houston at just five strokes back of the leader, Texas. But tourney host ASU stormed back from nine strokes out in the final round to win the championship with a score of 839. Texas was second (845), followed by USC (847), Houston (848) and Oklahoma State (849).
Stadler's total of 209 was good for a sixth place tie, just three strokes back of tourney champ Anders Hultman of OSU. USC also got strong performances from Nick Jones (210), who tied for 11th and Hunter Mahan (211), who tied for 15th. Also for USC, Alex Kuyumjian tied for 69th (220) and David Oh tied for 76th (221).
USC next plays at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., on April 21-22.
