LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern California starting defensive tackle Bernard Riley is expected to miss the rest of the season because of torn ligaments in his right knee.
Riley was hurt during Saturday's 27-24 loss at No. 10 Washington, but finished the game despite the injury, which was diagnosed Monday.
Riley, a junior, has 26 tackles - five for losses - and an interception in five games this season.
It's uncertain who will replace Riley in the starting lineup against Arizona State on Saturday. The Trojans hope defensive tackle Ryan Nielsen, who missed the Washington game with a separated shoulder, is able to return against the Sun Devils.
The Trojans (1-4, 0-3) have lost their last four games - all to teams ranked among the nation's Top 25 - by a total of 14 points.
