Ryan Wilson Named Pac-10 Track Athlete Of The Week

USC freshman hurdler Ryan Wilson has been named the Pac-10 Track Athlete of the Week for his performance at the USTCA College Power Invitational in Austin, Tex., this past weekend, the conference announced today.
Wilson, who hails from Gahanna, Ohio, ran a personal-best 13.90 (+2.5 wind) in the semifinals of the 110-meter high hurdles on Friday, then came back on Saturday and ran a 13.79 (+4.5 wind) to finish third in the finals of the event, which included a fine field of veteran hurdlers from around the country. The 13.90 mark (which leads the Trojans in 2000) was an NCAA provisional qualifying time, while the 13.79 will not count toward NCAA standards due to the heavy wind.
Wilson follows Kinshasa Davis as the second Trojan to be so honored this year (and the second in as many weeks). One of the top prep hurdlers in the nation in 1999, Wilson also is a threat in the 400-meter hurdles, where he has a personal-best of 51.69.
Wilson will get a chance to lower his times further as USC and UCLA clash in the annual dual meet on May 6 at Drake Stadium in Westwood.
