'Love and Basketball' Movie Opens April 21

LOS ANGELES -- From producers Spike Lee and Sam Kitt comes a motion picture love story told in four quarters...and with a USC basketball flavor.
"Love and Basketball," opening April 21 in theaters nationwide, follows Monica Wright (Sanaa Lathan) and Quincy McCall (Omar Epps), childhood adversaries and talented athletes who have a love for the game of basketball and each other.

Each pursues their dream of basketball success through high school, then in college at USC and finally in the pros, but along the way they must face their own personal hurdles.
Much of the movie was shot on the USC campus, with Trojan men's and women's basketball featured prominently.
Written and directed by first time feature filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood, New Line Cinema's "Love and Basketball" also stars Alfre Woodard, Dennis Haysbert, Debbi Morgan, and Kyla Pratt. Andrew Z. Davis serves as executive producer.
