Trojans Begin Swim Portion of Pan Am Games

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Three generations of Trojans were in action on the first day of the swimming portion of the Pan Am Games with sophomore Leonardo Costa leading the way with a bronze-medal winning performance in the 200-meter freestyle on Monday (Aug. 2) in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Costa, swimming for Brazil, swam a 1:51.29 to take third in the 200m free. Former Trojan All-American Josh Ilika, representing Mexico, took seventh in the event in 1:53.73.
Incoming freshman Shannon Cullen, competing for the United States, took fifth in the women's 400m IM in 4:54.68. USC assistant head coach Larry Liebowitz is also serving as an assistant coach with the U.S. team.
The swimming events run until Aug. 7.
