LOS ANGELES -- USC has finalized its football schedules for the 1999 and 2000 seasons, with non-conference games lined up against Notre Dame, Colorado, Hawaii, San Diego State, San Jose State and Louisiana Tech, in addition to its normal Pac-10 slate.
The Trojans will open their 1999 schedule at Hawaii on Sept. 4 and, by NCAA rule, that trip to Honololu will allow Troy to play a 12th regular-season game (marking the second year in a row that USC plays 12 regular-season games). USC then hosts San Diego State on Sept. 18, the second consecutive year that the Aztecs visit the Coliseum. The Trojans will play their annual intersectional at Notre Dame on Oct. 16, 1999. USC closes its 1999 regular season a week after the Nov. 20 UCLA game in the Coliseum with a Nov. 27 home game against Louisiana Tech (also that day, the Women of Troy basketball team will host the 1998 NCAA runnerup Lady Techsters).
USC's 2000 schedule features 7 home games, beginning with visits from Colorado on Sept. 9 and San Jose State on Sept. 16. The USC-Notre Dame game closes Troy's 2000 regular season on Nov. 25. The 2000 season marks the second time in 3 years that the Trojans will play 7 games in the Coliseum, as USC also has that many home contests in the upcoming 1998 season (beginning with the Pigskin Classic against Purdue on Aug. 30). Kickoff times for 4 of USC's games in 1998 have been set: 11:30 a.m. against Purdue on Aug. 30, 3:30 p.m. at Florida State on Sept. 26, 4 p.m. against Arizona State on Oct. 3 and 5 p.m. against Notre Dame on Nov. 28. ABC-TV will televise all 4 games live, with the Purdue and Notre Dame games shown nationally and the others aired regionally.
