USC Football Holds Intrasquad Scrimmage

LOS ANGELES--USC tailback Chad Morton ran for a 65-yard touchdown the first time he touched the ball to highlight a 69-play intrasquad football scrimmage Saturday (April 4) played in a constant rain before 1,000 fans at Howard Jones Field on campus.
The scrimmage came one week into USC's month-long spring practice under new head coach Paul Hackett.
Morton had 76 yards on 6 carries overall. Three other tailbacks gained most of the remaining rushing yards: Jabari Jackson had 33 yards on 7 tries, Petros Papadakis added 30 yards on 12 rushes and Malaefou MacKenzie had 28 yards on 9 carries.
Quarterback Quincy Woods completed 6-of-10 passes for 87 yards, while Mike Van Raaphorst was 2-of-6 for 13 yards with an interception and John Fox did not connect on any of his 6 aerials. Wide receiver Billy Miller had 3 catches for 41 yards.
Linebacker Zeke Moreno had a team-high 6 tackles, while fellow linebackers Darryl Knight and Jason Steen added 5 stops each.
