Reg Dupuy, One of USC's Oldest Surviving Football Players, Dies

LOS ANGELES - Reg Dupuy, one of USC's oldest surviving football players, died Dec. 4 in Anaheim. He was 95.
Dupuy, who lettered at guard for USC in 1922-23-24, was involved in several firsts in Trojan football history. In 1922, he played in the first football game in the Rose Bowl, a 12-0 loss to California. At the end of that season, he played in USC's first Rose Bowl, a 14-3 win over Penn State in the 1923 Rose Bowl. Then, in 1923, he played in the first football game in the Coliseum, a 23-7 victory over Pomona. During his career, USC went 25-5, all under head coach Elmer "Gloomy Gus" Henderson.
After his USC days, Dupuy was a captain in the Navy, then worked in the real estate and insurance industries. He resided in Garden Grove.
He is survived by a son, Richard, a daughter, Sheilah, a stepson, Kyle Lemons, a grandson, Dana, a granddaughter, Raquel, and a great granddaughter, Dominique.
