IRVINE, Calif.- On the field and in the game program, USCis line-up is dominated by "D".
From A to Z (or Aaron to Zeke) there are 19 players, about 20-percent of the team, with the letter D at the beginning of either their first or last name.
You could spend about all Day(e) spellchecking the first name Ds, which includes three Davids, a Daylon, Dylan, Darryl, Darnell, Derren and Derek.
Hey J !!??
At practice, just watch the heads swivel when Head Coach Paul Hackett yells, "Jay, get over here." Jay, R. Jay, Jahi, Jabari, John, and both of the Jason's have a decision to make, don't they?
Daylon McCutcheon is the only first name D with a last name that starts with M, although there are a whopping 14 of them. And there are five Trojans whois first and last names start with M, like Mike MacGillivray, Malaefou MacKenzie, Miguel Marco, Marc Matock and Matt McShane. Hmmm.
Speaking of doubling your pleasure. There are pair of Miguels, Sultans, a Kris and a Chris in camp. (More, later.)
Seeing Double
Truely odd is that three SC assistant coaches, Steve Greatwood, Larry Petroff and Ed Oregeron, have fathered twins.
There are four Trojans with proud papas that played on National Championship Trojan football teams: Sultan Abdul-Malik and father Wali Abdul Malik (1972 &74), Derek Graf and father Allan (1972), Brent McCaffrey and father Bob (1972 &74) and Marvin Powell III and father Marvin II (1974).
