Three former USC volleyball players--Steve Timmons, Paula Weishoff and Dusty Dvorak--have been inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Mass.
Timmons was a 3-time Olympian (1984-88-92), winning gold medals with the USA team in the first 2 Games and a bronze in 1992. Known for his trademark redheaded flattop haircut, he was a power swinging outside hitter. He also starred on the pro beach volleyball circuit. He was a 1982 All-American first teamer at USC and was a member of Troy's 1980 NCAA championship squad.
Weishoff, currently an assistant coach for the Women of Troy's No. 3-ranked volleyball team, was one of her generation's most dominant middle blockers and serveRs. She also played in 3 Olympics (1984-92-96) for the USA, winning a silver in 1984 and a bronze in 1992. A 1980 All-American on USC's AIAW national titlists, she played professionally oversees after leaving USC.
Dvorak is regarded as the best setter ever produced in the U.S., leading the USA team to the gold medal in the 1984 Olympics. A 4-year starter at USC, he helped the Trojans win the 1977 and 1980 NCAA crowns.
This trio joins 3 other one-time Trojans already enshrined in the Volleyball Hall of Fame: Debbie Green, Patti Bright and Ron Lang.
