Trojan Football Players Earn National Honors

LOS ANGELES - Senior offensive tackle Travis Claridge was named to The Sporting News All-American third team and senior tailback Chad Morton made the GTE Academic All-American second team.
Three Trojan freshmen--offensive guard Zach Wilson, a redshirt, plus wide receiver Kareem Kelly and cornerback Darrell Rideaux, both true frosh--were named to The Sporting News Freshman All-American second team.
Claridge, a 2-time All-Pac-10 first teamer, started all 48 games of his career. Morton, who ran for 1,141 yards in 1999, is a 4-time Pac-10 All-Academic first teamer and a 1999 National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete.
Wilson started 7 games in 1999. Kelly, the 1999 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, set USC freshman records for receptions (54) and receiving yards (902). Rideaux had 31 tackles while starting twice in 1999.
