USC Wins 12 Events During Final Day Of Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge

Norman, Brissett, Jemison and 4x100m relays post school all-time top 10 marks
The USC men's and women's teams both won six events and school top 10 marks were set by Michael Norman in the men's 200m, Chanel Brissett in the women's 100m hurdles, Breana Jemison in the women's shot put and both 4x100m relays during the final day of the Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge today (March 24) before 1,500 fans. The historic meet was designed to highlight the accomplishments of the five women coaches overseeing both men's and women's programs in Power 5 conferences: Caryl Smith Gilbert of USC, Amy Deem of Miami, Karen Dennis of Ohio State, Connie Price-Smith of Mississippi and Beth Alford-Sullivan of Tennessee. In the team competitions, USC's women won with 148 points and USC's men placed third with 102 points.

- The special meet began with a special moment as USC All-American hurdler and sprinter Anna Cockrell sang the national anthem and shortly after, a Special Olympics 100m dash was run with USC's Director of Track & Field Smith Gilbert serving as the races' starter.
- USC's women's 4x100m relay team of Dior Hall, Ky Westbrook, Deanna Hill and TeeTee Terry got the running portion of the meet off in style by winning with a time of 43.18. Their time is the sixth-fastest ever by a Trojan women's team.
- The Trojan men's 4x100m relay team of Alexander Barnum, Ricky Morgan Jr., Zach Shinnick and Michael Norman was not about to be outdone and posted a blazing time of 38.88, the fourth-fastest time on the USC men's all-time list in the event.
- Cockrell won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.02 (+0.8), followed by teammates Brissett in second at 13.07 (13.063) and Hall third at 13.07 (13.070). Lyndsey Lopes placed ninth in the event with a time of 13.86 (+0.8). Brissett's time moved her into seventh on USC's all-time list. Hall (3rd at 12.74) and Cockrell (4th at 12.89) are also in the Trojan top 10 in the event.
- Terry won the women's 100m dash with an amazing wind-aided early-season time of 10.97 (+3.5w), followed closely by Hill at 10.98 (+3.5w), both with wind-aided PRs. Brissett was sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.63 (+3.5w), Madisen Richards was 10th with a PR of 11.89 (+1.6) and Courtney Corrin was 12th at 12.84 (+1.6).
- Barnum won the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.36 (+1.3). Christian Sourapas placed fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.72 (+0.2) and Nick Moore was eighth with a time of 10.95 (+0.2).
- Robert Ford cruised to victory in the men's 800m race with a time of 1:48.97, while Matthew Myrtue placed seventh with a PR of 1:54.09.
- Kendall Ellis won the women's 200m dash with a time of 23.07 (-1.2), followed in second by Cockrell with a PR of 23.37 (-1.2). Westbrook placed fifth in the 200m with a time of 23.57 (+1.3), Hall was seventh with a PR of 23.66 (+1.3), Kayla Richardson was eighth at 23.77 (+2.5w) and Lopes was 12th at 23.95 (+2.5w).
- Norman eased to victory in the men's 200m dash with a time of 20.37 (+1.0), the eighth-fastest time ever by a USC male athlete. Shinnick took second in the 200m with a PR of 20.58 (+1.0), while Morgan Jr. was fifth at 21.11 (+1.0), Sourapas ninth at 21.52 (-0.2), T.J. Brock 10th at 21.57 (-0.3), Moore 12th at 21.78 (-0.3) and Tyler Rambo 19th at 23.17 (+0.9).
- Morgan Jr. won the men's 400m race with a time of 46.34.
- Jemison won the women's shot put on her final attempt with a throw of 55-5.50 (16.90m), just edging Janeah Stewart of Mississippi who had a mark of 55-3.50 (16.85m) in her final attempt. Jemison's throw moved her from seventh to sixth on USC's all-time women's shot put list.
- Earnest Sears III won the men's high jump by clearing 7-0.25 (2.14m). He went out at 7-1.50 (2.17m) which would have been a PR.
- Alexa Harmon-Thomas won the women's high jump with a season-best clearance of 5-8.00 (1.73m). Cassidy Palka placed fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 5-6.00 (1.68m).
- Courtney Corrin placed second in the women's long jump with a season-best leap of 19-11.00/6.07m (+0.9). Lopes placed third in the long jump with a PR of 19-9.75/6.04m (+0.4) and Harmon-Thomas placed sixth with a best jump of 18-10.50/5.75m (+0.0). Richards had fouls on all three attempts.
- Colette Putnam took third place in the women's javelin throw with a best mark of 95-11 (29.23m) which came in her final throw.
- Michael Gonzalez placed third in the men's pole vault by clearing 16-7.25 (5.06m). He went out at 16-11.00 (5.16m) which would have been a PR.
- Jadon Joyner placed sixth in the men's long jump with a best jump of 23-1.75/7.05m (+0.6).
- Nick Ponzio took fifth in the men's shot put with a best mark of 60-6.50 (18.45m).
- All four Trojans running in the women's 1500m race had a PR with Chloe Berry placing second with a time of 4:29.81, Amber Gore third at 4:31.82, Lauren Maurer ninth at 4:50.04 and Julia Bounds 10th at 4:52.17.
- Josh Zavala also had a PR in the men's 1500m race, placing sixth with a time of 4:01.11.
- Kyra Constantine had a PR of 2:10.30 to place fifth in the women's 800m race. Jennifer Daly finished eighth in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:14.53 and Kennedy Gillian placed 10th with a PR of 2:15.61.
- Cameron Samuel placed second in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 52.54.
- USC's women's 4x400m relay team of Constantine, Gillian, Daly and Ellis placed second with a time of 3:37.69. Ellis ran an amazing last leg, passing every team except the winning team from Ohio State which had a time of 3:36.89.
- The men's 4x400m relay team of Samuel, Shinnick, Myrtue and Ford placed fourth with a time of 3:12.46.
