McArthur & Bultman Lead USC In First Day Of Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge

Joy McArthur placed third in the women's hammer throw with the 10th-farthest throw in school history and Nathan Bultman placed third in the men's hammer throw and fifth in the men's discus throw to highlight the Trojans' action during the first day of the Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge today (March 23).  The hammer throw and discus throw were contested at Long Beach State, with the majority of the meet taking place tomorrow at Loker Stadium on the USC campus, beginning at noon and running through 3:30 p.m. Â
- The freshman McArthur got things started for the Trojans finishing third in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 201-9 (61.49m). In just her second collegiate meet, McArthur moves to 10th on USC's all-time women's hammer throw list. She also moves into eighth on the NCAA descending order list for the 2018 season.
- Bultman placed third in the men's hammer throw with a PR of 206-11 (63.06m). That mark currently ranks 10th among collegians. Bultman had his first career 200-foot throw last week and surpassed 200-plus feet three more times this week. Jason Kim took 10th in the hammer throw, improving on each throw and finishing with a best mark of 154-10 (47.19m).
- Breana Jemison placed eighth in the women's discus throw with a best mark of 143-8 (43.79m).
- Bultman came back to place fifth in the men's discus throw, with his best mark of 171-10 (52.38m) coming in his final attempt. It was the second-farthest throw of his collegiate career, with his best of 181-3 coming at the Triton Invitational in 2016. Nick Ponzio placed eighth in the discus throw with a mark of 161-7 (49.26m).
