Hansson (200fly), Condorelli (100free) Post Big Wins To Close Texas Invitational

Mulcare second in 200back, Aroesty second in 200breast.

Senior Santo Condorelli blazed to first in the 100y free, sophomore Louise Hansson and junior Maddie Wright went 1-2 in the 200y fly, junior Patrick Mulcare finished second in the 200y back and freshman Maggie Aroesty and junior Riley Scott finished 2-3 in the 200y breast to lead the USC women's and men's swim teams on a huge Saturday night (Dec. 2) at the Texas Invitational in Austin.
 
Condorelli, an All-American in the 100y free last year, won a packed final in the event in Texas today in 42.10, an NCAA A cut and 0.03 ahead of Texas swimmer Brett Ringold and 0.09 ahead of Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers.
 
Hansson, who flourished in the 100-yard events as a freshman, has stretched herself as a sophomore into the 200s and won the 200y fly today in 1:52.66, an NCAA A cut, after winning the 100y fly yesterday. Wright, an All-American in the event last year, was second in a season-best B cut of 1:54.05.
 
Aroesty took second in the 200y breast in 2:07.31 while Scott, who won the 100y breast on Friday, was third in the race (2:08.22), both B cuts. Sophomore Mario Koenigsperger, an A finalist in the 100 breast Friday, was seventh Saturday in the A final in 1:56.66.
 
Mulcare lowered his school record in the 200y back with an NCAA A cut 1:39.18 en route to second behind Texas Longhorn Austin Katz's 1:38.49 while senior Jon Knox was eighth in the A final (1:44.56).
 
Even 2017 USC grad Anika Apostalon got into the act, winning the 100y free in 47.49 while Trojan freshman Marta Ciesla, the 50 winner Thursday, was fourth in 48.76.
 
Sophomore Becca Mann led USC's women in the 1650y free timed final in fifth in 16:11.53 while junior Elizabeth Stinson was seventh (16:14.11), both B cuts. Senior Pawel Furtek was 12th in the men's race (15:07.57, B).
 
Junior Alex Valente topped USC in the men's 200y fly in second in 1:44.14 (B) while sophomore Mark Jurek was fourth in the B (1:45.70, B) and junior Cash Deloache right behind in fifth (1:45.83, B).
 
The USC women finished third in the 400y free relay as Hansson, senior Lexie Malazdrewicz, sophomore Tatum Wade and Ciesla posted an A cut of 3:15.40.
 
The men's relay of Condorelli, seniors Dylan Carter and Ralf Tribuntsov and freshman Justin Nguyen posted an NCAA A cut of 2:50.64 to take second back of Texas by 0.84.
